Healthy Treat Recipes: Peanut Butter Energy Balls, Green Goddess & Turmeric Bliss

When I first started eating healthy on the road I found it was hard to resist any of the sweet treats on board. Very quickly I realized that not packing any sweet treats or healthy carbs, resulted in binge eating every piece of snack item in view.

I needed a solution to be able to nick my craving without eating copious amounts of shit onboard. One of those ways was making and eating peanut butter energy balls.

To give you an idea in the difference between two sweet treats:

As you can see, PBB have a lot less sugar and calories, but gives me the sweetness I needed (and possibly energy).

While I’ve been making these peanut butter balls for about six years now, I wanted to find a way to put and Turmeric and collagen into a snack but I could take with me on the road.

Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant. Although it’s difficult to actually get enough Curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) in your body with turmeric alone, every little bit counts. You’ll see in my recipe below that I use a golden mylk blend. This is because turmeric can only be absorbed into the body with pepper, and this blend has it all and tastes a little better in recipes.

Collagen and has been a hot supplement in the last year or two. There are two main reasons why. One is because it supposedly helps ease joint pain. Standing on my feet all day, working out and daily activities put a lot of stress on my joints, and I want to protect them. The main reason everybody wants to use collagen is…TO REVERSE AGING. Minimal studies have shown that ingesting collagen results in supple, glowing skin and less/reverse of wrinkles. These two reasons alone are enough to try it out at least. Collagen may also help build muscle and burn fat, as well as help with digestive issues (awesome!).

Today I blended these two nutritional supplements into two new peanut butter treats. I have the original and two new flavour recipes below.
